COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Controls course provides students with the skills needed to manage the control systems that automate and monitor data center environments. This includes training on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and SCADA systems. Participants will also learn networking basics for control system integration and understand the role of instrumentation in data acquisition and system control.
CERTIFICATION
Graduates will receive the Certified Data Center Control Systems Technician (CDCST) certification, marking proficiency in control system operations and troubleshooting.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for data center operations.
- Understand and manage the networking infrastructure necessary for integrating control systems.
- Operate and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Interpret and configure Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Monitor and control data center systems using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Understand and apply communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP.
- Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation systems, including sensors, actuators, and controllers.
